"L'ambassadrice de Charme des Etats-Unis" is in Europe,
traveling in style in England and Italy with her daughters,
promoting her Let Girls Learn Initiative,
she chose European designer ( except when she visited Aviano Air Base ),
solidifying international relations between "le vieux continent" and the USA.

Champagne VS Clairette de Die

Everybody knows the Champagne but what about the Clairette de Die ?


Both are sparkling wines,
   
Both are only produced in specific Regions of France ( AOC )


Champagne
La Région champenoise




But Production methods are different... 

And also the price !!

  •  less than 10 € for a wonderful Clairette de Die,
  • From 30 euros to ...? for a good Champagne ( Never forget : the best are not the most expensive and the most famous )

  • Sharp and fruity for the Clairette de Die 
  • Full-bodied and fruity, sharp and fruity, supple and round, young and powerful...... it depends of the types of Champagne ( Rosé, Prestige cuvée... )

we made a stop at the lake Sainte Croix, 
the largest lake in Provence.

 Our beautiful hotel (Four Stars )
This is the second time I come in this hotel 
and I continue to love this place...

For this week-end, my eldest daughter was with me 
(not sure she liked the menu with truffle).
Personally, I loved...
It's my favorite adress in the Var.
All staff are very kind.

The Royal Wedding : Sofia and Carl Philip of Sweden

Like many girls, I love weddings, and especially the dress !
And because, one of my favorite country in the world is Sweden,
I wanted to write a post on Carl and Sofia's royal wedding.
It will be celebrated tomorrow at 4.30 pm in Stockholm.
Carl Philip is third in line to the throne, behind his elder sister Crown Princess Victoria and her three-year-old daughter Princess Estelle.

Cooking with Julia Child : le Clafoutis aux cerises ( Cherry flan )****

THE CLAFOUTIS IS A FRENCH CLASSIC CAKE 
The Julia Child's recipe is the best one in the world !!

 from Mastering the art of French Cooking / Volume One 

For 6 or 8 people / 6 à 8 personnes


---------------------------------------- 
3/4 lb stoned black cherries / 450 gr de cerises noires 

1/2 pt. milk / 284 ml de lait
2 oz. granulated sugar / 50 gr de sucre
3 eggs / 3 oeufs
1 tbl vanilla extract / 1 cc de vanille liquide
1/8 tsp salt / 1 pincée de sel
2 and 1/2 oz. sifted flour / 55 gr de farine tamisée
An electric liquidizer / un batteur électrique


Preheat oven to 350°F / Préchauffez le four à 180°C
 Use fresh, black, sweet cherries in season. Otherwise use drained, tinned, stoned cherries.
Utilisez des fruits frais non abîmés, dans la saison
Place the ingredients alongside in the liquidizer jar in the order in which they are listed.
Placez les ingrédients dans un bol en respectant l'ordre ci-dessus 
 ( excepté les cerises, bien sûr )
Cover and blend at top speed for 1 minute.
Battre à vitesse rapide pendant 1 minute.

A 3- to 4 lightly buttered, fireproof baking dish 
or ovenglass pie plate about 1 1/2 ins. deep
Beurrez légèrement un plat à gratin 
An asbestos mat, if necessary
 2 oz. granulated sugar / 50 gr de sucre

 Pour a 1/4-inch layer of batter in the baking dish or pie plate
Mettez 1/4 de la pâte dans le plat à gratin ou à tarte
Place over a moderate heat for a minute or two until a film of batter has set in the bottom of the dish
Mettez dans le four à température modérée pendant 1 ou 2 minutes jusqu'à l'apparition
d'un film de pâte sur le dessus
Remove from heat
Retirez du four 
Spread the cherries over the batter and sprinkle on the sugar
Déposez les cerises sur la pâte et saupoudrez de sucre
Pour on the rest of the batter and smooth the surface with the back of a spoon.
Recourez du reste de pâte et lissez avec le dos de la cuillère.

Icing sugar in a shaker / sucre glace tamisé

Place in the middle of preheated oven and bake for about an hour. The clafoutis is done when it has puffed and browned, and a needle or knife plunged into its centre comes out clean.
Enfournez le plat dans le four à mi-hauteur pendant 1 heure.( la pointe du couteau doit ressortir sèche )
Sprinkle top of Clafoutis with icing sugar just before bringing it to the table.
( The clafouti need not be served hot, but should still be warn. It will sink down slightly as it cools. )
Saupoudrez le clafoutis de sucre glace avant de le servir ( de préférence froid )

Served with a "Rosé" wine
